Rainbow came to us as an owner surrender, having endured years of severe neglect. Upon rescue, she was immediately taken to the vet for a thorough assessment and pain management, which brought her immense relief – likely the first she'd experienced in years.

Rainbow suffers from a severely deformed rear left leg. Oakridge Animal Hospital and Benchmark Animal Hospital identified it as a "knuckling" issue where the leg cannot be straightened, causing her significant pain and severely limiting her mobility. This condition is a direct result of years of prior neglect.

With consistent love, care, and grooming to her mangled mane and tail, Rainbow began to perk up, returning affection and nuzzles. Despite her suffering, she possesses an incredible will to live.

Following extensive research into her unique condition, we opted for a risky surgical procedure to cut the tendon in an attempt to straighten her leg and hoof. Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful, leaving us devastated.

Refusing to give up, especially seeing Rainbow's own tenacious spirit, I continued my research and discovered Bionic Pets, a specialist in custom prosthetics for animals. They have confirmed they can create an "able-bodied prosthetic" specifically for Rainbow's rear left leg. This device will be custom-made to work around her leg's current fixed angle, add a bit of height to protect the limb, and prevent further bending. We are incredibly excited and hopeful that this custom prosthetic will provide her with a new, pain-free life and significantly improved mobility. Beyond her own well-being, Rainbow's story can serve as a powerful testament to resilience and hope for others facing physical and emotional challenges.
